The University of Haifa considers it of paramount importance to promote gender equity and to create an environment in which women are adequately and properly represented at all ranks and positions.

The Gender Equity Unit gathered empirical data regarding the status of gender equity, and brought up a comprehensive strategic plan for the next five years.

The unit initiates projects and programs aimed at raising gender awareness and creating an equal and welcoming academic environment. One project is an extensive position paper on gender equity in academia, another significant project if METIS a project that creates a thorough support system for women researchers.
