Project METIS

Métis in Greek mythology is the vanishing mother of the goddess Athena. After she counselled him how to become the ruler of Olympus, Zeus swallowed the pregnant Métis. Athena, Métis’ daughter, coming out of Zeus’ head, doesn’t even know she has a mother. Métis was swallowed, but her story survived, and it continues to echo in the feminist discourse as a symbol of female power, and the demand for voice and agency.  The Métis project is comprised of on-going moves designed to produce a process of mentoring, counselling and assisting women researchers at the University of Haifa.
